April 28, 2018, St. Louis Region — Gateway Motorsports Park’s new drag racing points series – the VP Racing Lubricants Mid-America SuperCar Showdown – launched Friday, April 27. Twelve classes were contested with some new faces appearing in victory lane.

The program is designed for drivers and teams who may not fit in the current track bracket points championship series. The VP Racing Lubricants Mid-America SuperCar Showdown will provide an alternative racing program and offers drivers more opportunities to win.


Final-round eliminations results:

Mid-America Outlaw: Randy Matlock (Wentzville, Missouri) defeated Dustin Kurz (Frankford, Missouri).

Mid-America Street Car No Time: Chad Barton (Valles Mines, Missouri) defeated Bob Ruppel (Lake St. Louis, Missouri).

Outlaw Street Motorcycle No Time: Brett Ware (St. Louis) defeated John Durall (St. Louis).

6.0 Index: Kevin Prior (Warrenton, Missouri) defeated Frankie Radake (St. Louis).

7.0 Index: Dennis Pearson (St. Peters, Missouri) defeated Steve Pearson (St. Charles, Missouri).

Crazy 8s Motorcycle: Nick Stewart (Troy, Illinois) defeated Phil Humphrey (Collinsville, Illinois).

9.50 Index Motorcycle: Marcus Taylor (St. Louis) defeated Scott Leonard (Glen Carbon, Illinois).

Jr. Dragster 7.90 Index: Jacob Wyman (Jacksonville, Illinois) defeated Collin Boehner (Festus, Missouri).

Jr. Dragster 8.90 Index: Lilly Kinne (Carton, Illinois) defeated Emma Wyman (Jacksonville, Illinois).

Jr. Dragster 11.90 Index: Noah Taylor (singled) (St. Louis).

Jr. Dragster 13.90 Index: Eden Howard (singled) (Brighton, Illinois).

Jr. Dragster Gambler: Lilly Kinne (Carton, Illinois) defeated Emma Wyman (Jacksonville, Illinois).
