WWTR JOINS JHDM MEMORIAL KICK IT CHARITY EFFORT AS TITLE SPONSOR

WHEATLAND, MO. (September 5, 2019) – World Wide Technology Raceway in Madison, Illinois, has now is the official title sponsor of the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial Kick-It Game on Saturday, September 21. The game benefits Grady Chandler’s recovery fund through the Steve King Foundation. The kickball game is scheduled for 1 p.m. and pits the winged warriors of the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series versus the non-wing wheelmen of the POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprint League. Additionally, there will be a silent auction open throughout the event featuring numerous unique and noteworthy items.

“We are proud to be associated with this great event,” said Chris Blair, World Wide Technology Raceway Executive Vice President and General Manager. “I was a big Jesse Hockett fan and got to know him on his visits out west with the ASCS Sprint Cars. Both he and Daniel left the world way too soon and were destined for bigger things in their careers. When we learned that this year’s event benefitted Grady Chandler, who was very close to many of our dirt racing friends, we wanted to do whatever we could to help. Hopefully our involvement makes a difference and we can honor the memory of Jesse and Daniel while also helping Grady with his recovery.”

A multi-faceted motorsports complex, WWTR is a dream for the ultimate race fan. The facility hosts major events, including the NTT IndyCar Series #Bommarito500, NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series CarShield 200 and the AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals, a drag racing extravaganza that takes over WWTR the weekend after the Hockett/McMillin Memorial on September 27-29.

“Having WWT Raceway as our title sponsor makes perfect sense for us,” said event volunteer Brooke Shuman, “Chris Blair and his staff run an efficient and exciting facility perfect for making long-lasting memories, much like our special event here at Lucas Oil Speedway remembering Jesse and Daniel. When I called Mr. Blair about this effort to help Grady, he didn’t hesitate to jump on board. It speaks volumes about his character. Plus, I am confident their involvement and effort to cross promote with us will bring more fans to their facility. We hope you’ll be able to join us at not only the Hockett/McMillin Memorial (Sept. 19-21) for a fantastic event honoring Jesse and Daniel, but also the Kick-It game on Saturday, September 21 benefiting Grady Chandler, and the NHRA Midwest Nationals (Sept. 27-29) at WWTR.”

In addition to the kickball game, fans will be able to obtain autographs and take photos with the drivers while checking out the silent auction and helping raise money to help Grady Chandler and his family.

For those interested in donating directly or contributing items to the silent auction, please contact Bobbie Nichols at JHDMmemorial@gmail.com.
