Michael Self will be the polesitter for Saturday night’s ARCA Menards Series “Day-to-Day Coffee 150” race at World Wide Technology Raceway.
The green flag will fly at 6:45 p.m.
Self, 28 of Salt Lake City, Utah, has never raced at WWTR but he was able to record the fastest time in ARCA’s only practice Saturday afternoon touring the 1.25-mile WWTR oval at 135.931 miles per hour.
An all-morning rain washed away qualifying and the field was set by the fastest driver in practice.
“It was interesting,” he said. “It was kind of a rushed 55 minutes (of practice). I never made a lap at this place and it was kind of interesting. I knew we had a good car.
“It’s cool to start from the pole my first time here. I’m excited to have 120 laps to keep figuring this place out.
“I’ve got a good No. 25 Sinclair Oil Toyota. But, I think I need to do a little more work on my end.”
Self has won three times from 10 races this season and is the current series points leader with 2,435 points.
